Which Animals May Not Be Advertised on Pets Connected

At PetsConnected.com, we love all animals — but not every species is suitable for sale or adoption through our platform.
Some animals are restricted to protect their welfare, public safety, and comply with legal requirements.

Here’s what you need to know about prohibited animals:

🚫 Banned or Restricted Species

The following animals may not be advertised on Pets Connected:

• Wild-caught animals or endangered species

• Dangerous wild animals (as defined by the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976 and similar laws)

• Certain hybrid animals, such as wolf hybrids or serval hybrids (unless meeting specific licensing conditions)

• Banned dog breeds under the Dangerous Dogs Act (e.g., Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino, Fila Brasileiro) or their crossbreeds

• Animals bred or sold illegally without appropriate licences

If you are unsure whether an animal falls into a restricted category, always check your local laws or contact our support team.

🐾 Unethical or Irresponsible Animal Sales

We also prohibit the advertising of:

• Animals for fighting, baiting, guarding, or aggressive purposes

• Pets intended for laboratory use, experimentation, or breeding mills

• Animals offered as free gifts, competition prizes, or giveaways (without proper safeguards)

Pets are living beings — not commodities — and deserve to be rehomed responsibly.

⚖️ Licensing Requirements

Certain animals (particularly exotic species and some dog breeds) require a special licence to sell or own legally.
If a licence is required, sellers must:

• Clearly display licence details within their advert

• Provide proof of licensing when requested

Failure to comply may result in the advert being removed and further action being taken.

🛡️ Why These Rules Matter

Restricting the advertisement of certain species helps:

• Protect animal welfare

• Ensure public safety

• Prevent the illegal wildlife trade

• Support ethical, responsible rehoming practices

Thank you for helping us keep PetsConnected.com safe, legal, and compassionate.
Together, we are making a positive difference for pets and people everywhere.
